Mens Spring Competition 2023
The men’s Spring tennis competition will follow a league and knockout format. There are fewer teams in this competition so it’s just a cup comp this time (no plate).
Teams will be split into two groups, A & B.

Capt Group A is Ray Kiely Capt Group B is Emmet Costigan
Pay your fiver to the captains on the night you play them or Revolut them.
During the league you will play the teams in your group.
League Stage
Scoring will be;
First to 10 games
2 points for a win
1 bonus point for the losing team if they score 7 games or more
0 points if a team is beaten 10-6 or worse.
Knockout Stage
The top two teams in each group will qualify for the Cup knockout stage. If teams finish tied on the same points in their group, the winner will be decided by who won the head-to-head match between the tied teams.
The winner of group A will play the runner up of group B and vice versa. Essentially, a semi-final and final.
Rules
The deadline for the league stage matches is the 31st March. The knockout stage must be completed by the 7th April The prize giving is on the 11th April. Please get your matches played early! IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE INTEGRITY OF THE COMPETITION THAT YOU PLAY ALL YOUR MATCHES.
During the league stage, if a player has to drop out, a substitute is allowable (if a suitable one can be found). However, during the knockout stage, no substitutes will be allowed and a walk-over must be given to the opponents.
Booking: Don’t book unless you have a match organised. When you book, please include details of the match (all the players) under “Description”.
Start your matches on time and please take no more than 5 minutes to warm up.
In this Group you can request a match but please organise that match PRIVATELY to avoid clogging up the chat. Once you have a match organised, you can post your organised match details to the group.
For those who don’t know how to do that directly from within the group chat, here’s what you do.
- Long press on the chat from the person you want to reply to
- On the menu that appears, click “More”
- On the next menu, click “Reply Privately”
Match Results
Send match results directly to Michael Kearney. It is the responsibility of the winning team to forward the result. Please do this directly after the match.
